Hybrid Publishing

Hybrid Publishing

What is Hybrid Publishing?

Hybrid publishing is just what it sounds like: a blend of publishing models.

Hybrid offers industry-standard quality control, modern distribution, and partnership through the process.
An author invests in a portion of the production costs in exchange for a much larger share of royalties on the sale of the book.

An author may not pay a traditional publisher, but they will have invested in their own skills, through courses and coaches and writing programs and often several rounds of professional editing.

And for the privilege of their traditional publishing contract they will receive a paltry 5% - 15% of royalties from the sale of their book—the publisher keeps the rest.

Hybrid authors earn between 50% and 70% or more
in royalties on book sales.

**Details and percentage vary by publisher and contract.

Why We're Different

At Ingenium Books, we take the “hybrid” notion a step further. What sets us apart from other publishers is the fact that we blend author and manuscript development into many of our projects.

A Gap in the Publishing Ecosystem

Our approach addresses a gap in the publishing ecosystem. In the fallout from the 2008-09 crash, traditional publishers stopped developing new author talent as they shed staff and authors who aren't selling enough books to be profitable.

Authors Always Invest in Publishing

Authors pursuing traditional publishing must first harness their talent and hone their craft. This means investing in writing schools, courses, coaching programs, (sometimes) agents, development editors, and others. They also invest time, effort, and often more money seeking a publisher.

A Direct Path to Published

At Ingenium Books, we offer a straighter, certain path to publishing. We have taken on the important work of developing new authors, guiding / training/ coaching  them as together we produce the best possible manuscript. The sweet reward is publishing and ongoing marketing support on the other side.

Manuscript Needs Work? No Problem

Our publishing model works in these scenarios:

  • Developing author, partial / incomplete draft
  • Developing author, complete draft that needs work
  • Author, professionally-edited manuscript and a marketing plan
