Hybrid Publishing
Hybrid publishing is just what it sounds like: a blend of publishing models.
What is Hybrid Publishing?
Hybrid offers industry-standard quality control, modern distribution, and partnership through the process.
An author invests in a portion of the production costs in exchange for a much larger share of royalties on the sale of the book.
An author may not pay anything to a traditional publisher up front, but there are costs.
They will have invested in their own skills, through courses and coaches and writing programs and often several rounds of professional editing.
And for the privilege of their traditional publishing contract they will pay the publisher between 85% and 95% of royalties resulting from the sale of the book. Yes, most authors who are traditionally published receive a paltry 5% - 15% of royalties—the publisher keeps the rest.
Hybrid authors earn between 50% and 70% or more in royalties on book sales.
**Details and percentage vary by publisher and contract.
