FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE—Toronto, ON, Wednesday, July 2, 2025 — Beth Granger, acclaimed author of the recently-released memoir, Born and Razed: Surviving the Cult Was Only Half the Battle, will be available for a special book signing event at Toronto’s Yorkdale Indigo store #286 on Saturday July 12, 2025, from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm. This marks Granger's first visit to Toronto, offering a unique opportunity for both media and the public to connect with the author of this important Ontario story.
Born and Razed, published by Ingenium Books, exposes the dark truth hidden beneath the impressive façade of Grenville Christian College (GCC), once considered one of Canada’s elite boarding schools: residents were subjected to paranoia, brainwashing, abuse, and terror.
After feeling trapped for three decades, Beth finally breaks free. And tapping into a courage to challenge authority that she didn’t know she possessed, she helps spearhead what becomes the first historical abuse case to win at trial in Canada. Telling her story as a former staff kid becomes an invaluable part of her journey of healing from hidden abuse.
Beth Granger, who resides just outside Ottawa, has been sharing her story with captivated audiences in bookstores, libraries, and coffee shops across eastern Ontario. Her deeply personal account, which includes the debilitating impact of abuse on her mental health, has resonated strongly with readers. Cult expert and author Janja Lalich describes Born and Razed as, “a stunning contribution to the growing recognition of the impact and trauma of growing up in a cult.”
“I’ve been overwhelmed at the interest in what happened at GCC—not just to me, but to so many students and parents who put their faith and trust in the school and its leaders. Instead of being an elite educational institution, Grenville turned out to be an abusive cult,” says Granger. “I’m thrilled to bring this story to Toronto and connect with more readers and those who are interested in learning about the lasting impact of such experiences.”
Members of the media are invited to attend the signing, and Beth Granger will be available for interviews during the event. Pre-scheduled interviews are encouraged.
