FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE—Toronto, ON, Thursday, March 12, 2026 — Award-winning hybrid publisher Ingenium Books is proud to announce the launch of its dedicated fiction imprint: Nexum Books. Focused on literary and genre fiction that explores the nexus of deep human connection, transformative relationships, and shared experience, Nexum Books will serve as a high-prestige home for narratives that interrogate the complexities of the human condition.
The imprint’s name—Nexum, meaning a link or binding—reflects its core mission: to foster connection and drive transformative change through the power of the story.
The Intention of Connection
Nexum Books enters the market with a clear mandate to attract high-quality literary authors whose work reflects the Ingenium mission of promoting empathy and understanding.
“Running an independent press is a privilege because of intention,” says Boni Wagner-Stafford, publisher at Ingenium Books. “With Nexum, we are building a catalogue rooted in human connection. We choose narratives that broaden our understanding of identity, that illuminate common ground, and that refuse simplistic binaries. Nexum is where we chart the most complex territories of the heart on the global map of belonging.”
The Debut Title: Fugue by Anna Meshcherova
To anchor the launch, Nexum Books is honoured to announce its inaugural title, Fugue by Anna Meshcherova, a global citizen and poet who writes from the fluid space between cultures and identities.
Fugue is a haunting literary odyssey of dissolution and emergence. The novel follows Josh Cummiskey, a brilliant Canadian biotech CEO whose world implodes following a national scandal. As he flees his crumbling life, Josh’s identity begins to dissolve into a fugue of sorts—part escape, part forgetting, and part search for meaning.
“Anna Meshcherova is the quintessential Nexum author,” says Wagner-Stafford. “Her exquisite writing explores the messy, beautiful complexity of being human, making Fugue the perfect representative for an imprint dedicated to the art of connection.”
