FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE—Toronto, ON, Monday, June 1, 2026 — Dr. Ariff Kachra, one of Canada’s foremost experts at the intersection of diversity, equity, and inclusion, leadership, and organizational strategy, has signed with Ingenium Books to publish The Performance Advantage: How DEI Drives Organizational Results.
With over 25 years of experience spanning senior leadership, executive development, management consulting, and coaching, Dr. Kachra brings a rare combination of academic rigour and hard-won lived experience to one of the most urgent conversations in organizational life.
The Performance Advantage arrives at a critical moment, when many organizations are retreating from DEI commitments in response to political headwinds. Dr. Kachra’s book challenges that retreat directly—and reframes the entire conversation.
“Pausing DEI investments may feel reasonable, but it’s risky and shortsighted,” says Dr. Kachra. “Less investment won’t eliminate diversity, equity, and inclusion challenges; it will erode morale, trust, and performance. This book speaks the language of skeptical leaders: outcomes and results. My argument is simple. When you discount DEI, you are playing with fire, because DEI is directly linked to organizational performance.”
Drawing on the real-life experiences of hundreds of equity-denied professionals across sectors, the book guides organizational leaders through the full complexity of DEI, including confronting individual-to-individual discrimination, locating and dismantling systemic discrimination, giving space to marginalized voices, redefining merit, building diverse leadership teams, and designing actionable change programs that drive measurable results.
“In a time of growing resistance, my vision for this book is to ignite courageous conversations, equip leaders with practical tools, and inspire action across organizations and industries,” Dr. Kachra explains. “My ultimate goal with the book is to shift the narrative, proving that DEI is not just necessary but vital to the health and future of our institutions.”
As a Brown, Muslim, and Gay man who has navigated racism and discrimination at every stage of his career, Dr. Kachra’s voice carries both the weight of personal experience and the authority of a decorated scholar and practitioner. He holds an MBA from the Telfer School of Business and a Ph.D. in Strategic Leadership and Management from the Richard Ivey School of Business. He is the recipient of five consecutive David G. Burgoyne Awards for Teaching Excellence at Ivey, and has taught DEI to approximately 7,000 MBA and Executive MBA students. Some of his clients include Shopify, the CBC, Ottawa Public Health, and the City of Ottawa.
“DEI has never been more contested—or more consequential,” says Boni Wagner-Stafford, publisher at Ingenium Books. “Dr. Kachra brings something genuinely rare to this conversation: the strategic mind of a seasoned leadership scholar, the courage of someone who has lived the inequities he writes about, and the practical tools that leaders across every sector urgently need. The Performance Advantage is exactly the book this moment demands.”
The Performance Advantage: How DEI Drives Organizational Results is slated for release in early 2027.
