HR Executive Charles Marful to Share New Approach to Intangible Capital

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE—Toronto, ON, Thursday, December 11, 2025  Charles Marful, one of Canada’s leading HR executives, has signed with Ingenium Books to share his insights into how human resources can evolve in the age of AI and the post-Covid world.

With the working title Winning with Intangible Capital: The Sankofa Approach to Leading People and Shaping Culture in the Age of AI, Marful’s new book will add a unique perspective on how companies can be successful. He uses Sankofa, a concept originating in West Africa, which focuses on retrieving valuable insights and wisdom from the past to ensure present and future success.

Having had the opportunity over the past two decades to observe how organizations have navigated challenges in Canada and abroad, Marful used the pandemic to step back and take a new look at the typical way these are addressed. Using Sankofa, he looked at the root causes of issues in coming up with a new framework for leaders to use.

“The landscape for companies has changed significantly in the last fifteen years,” Marful says. “The financial collapse in 2008, the COVID-19 pandemic, the rise of platform organizations, and the AI revolutiion in the workplace have combined to force leaders to look for new ways to win.”

In the search for answers, what is ignored is usually an intangible asset or capital. “They are invaluable and are behind what makes a difference in many cases, yet they are so obvious they get discarded,” Marful explains. “My thesis is that if we deliberately focus on them, we can achieve better results.” In his book, he uses examples from reputable companies that have leveraged these intangible assets. Taking an African approach adds a fresh perspective.

Marful, who has degrees from the University of Ghana and Queen’s University, is currently a talent leader at EY Canada. In 2022, Afroglobal Television included him in their annual list of 100 Most Influential Black Canadians.

“With the rapid pace at which our world is evolving and the rise of AI in our everyday lives, it’s clear that we need to rethink how we do things in the workplace,” says Boni Wagner-Stafford, Ingenium Books publisher. “Charles’s unique approach provides a comprehensive framework that will be invaluable to everyone from CEOs and HR leaders to inclusiveness practitioners and even business students.”

Winning with Intangible Capital is slated for release in late 2026.
