FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE—Toronto, ON, Friday, May 9, 2025– A holistic doctor of veterinarian medicine has signed with Ingenium Books to share the life lessons she learned from her dog and other animals. With the working title Sophi, this will be Dr. Darla Rewers first book.
Sophi, an Australian shepherd and border collie mix, was Rewers’ first dog. “Sophi taught me more in our 17.5 years together than I learned in the years before or the years since,” Rewers said about the animal she calls her “soul dog.” Dr. Rewers started writing the book when faced with having to put Sophi down. “She had helped me through so many formative events in my life. I could count on her more than I could most people. As I learned more about trauma, I realized why our pets are so important to us.”
Rewers combines her training as a licensed veterinarian with certifications in Chinese traditional veterinary medicine, including acupuncture, and other healing practices to create overall natural treatment plans for pets. She also teaches Qi Gong meditation and art intentionality workshops to humans to help themselves and their pets.
“If I could help people learn that there are other ways to heal their pets than just pills, vaccines, and surgeries, that would be helpful,” Rewers said about her aim with Sophi. “Helping others understand our connections to animals would be success. Pets are the powerhouse of what keeps me motivated and joyful. I want to support them and the other people who love and rely on them.”
