FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE—Toronto, ON, Monday, May 5, 2025 – Scott Godwin, owner of the award-winning Bubba & Bugs Coffee Bar in Kemptville, Ontario, has signed with Ingenium Books to publish his debut novel.

You and Me (working title) explores a relationship that’s passionate to the point of all-consuming. It also addresses mental health struggles and growing up queer. It’s a powerful, honest depiction of what it means to lose, to live with debilitating grief and remorse, and to love someone so ferociously that letting go simply isn’t an option.

“I started writing this story out of anger,” Godwin said about how the idea of You and Me came about. “I accidentally mixed my COVID with my vodka one night and it took my brain to this place where it realized that what I had learned from daydreams, from chasing dreams, from chasing love to finally fighting love until I beat it, was that love had never actually ended nicely. There will always be scars and it is up to you to decide which ones you will bury and which ones you will wear with determination.”

Once Godwin recovered from COVID, he sat down to work on the book, still trying to prove that love is cruel and all you can do is fight it to the death. However, a few chapters in, something started to shift.

“I wasn’t angry; I was in love,” Godwin said, describing the change. “I was and had always been in love with love, and though I do believe it to be cruel, the fight for it isn’t a desperate one. I will always fight for it, and so would these characters.”

“You and Me is one of those books that will haunt you for a long time after you’ve read it,” said Boni Wagner-Stafford, publisher at Ingenium Books. “The themes it explores will resonate, no matter who or how you love or have loved. We’re very excited to be sharing  Scott’s words with the reading public.”

You and Me is slated for release in spring 2026.
