Your Publishing Journey

Ingenium Books publishes nonfiction that changes how professionals think and work.

Our imprints—Granum Kids and Nexum Books—extend that same standard of rigour and intentionality to children's literature and literary fiction.

Let’s Define Your Path Forward.

We work with authors at every stage — your instincts and preferences matter — and we bring our knowledge of the publishing marketplace and reader expectations to every decision. When we make a publishing offer, it's because we see the commercial case clearly
and are prepared to back it with our full resources.

STEP 1

Book Your Discovery Call

A conversation, not an audition

We'll spend 30–45 minutes getting to know you and your book. We're evaluating concept, fit, platform, and whether this is a partnership that makes sense for both of us.

We're selective — and we expect you to be too.

This conversation helps us determine whether your project is a good fit for the Ingenium Books catalogue.

STEP 2

Editorial Review & Proposal

We do our homework before we make an offer.

If the discovery call goes well, we review your manuscript. This is where we assess the book's commercial potential, its editorial needs, and how it fits our publishing program.

If we decide to move forward, we prepare a full Proposal and Publishing Offer — a detailed document covering our editorial approach, production plan, investment structure, distribution strategy, and what we'd expect from each other from manuscript to market.

No vague commitments. A real offer, built specifically for your book.

Manuscript Submission Requirements

To ensure a professional presentation, it helps when submissions adhere to these guidelines:

  • Title page with working title, author name, and word count.
  • Synopsis.
  • Completed table of contents.
  • Chapters starting on new pages.
  • Page numbers.
  • Double-spaced text.
  • 12–14 pt serif font (e.g., Times New Roman or similar).

Sidenote for Authors Without a Manuscript

Not quite ready with your manuscript? If you’re developing your book concept or exploring whether book doctoring or ghostwriting might help, we’re happy to talk through your options and help you understand the path ahead.

STEP 3

Contract & Onboarding

Once you've reviewed and signed the publishing agreement, we initiate onboarding: intake forms, team introductions, and your first editorial sessions. From signing, expect your book's release to be scheduled approximately 18–24 months out — the lead time required to do this properly.

What We Bring.
What You Bring

Ingenium brings: rigorous editorial standards, professional production, global distribution through 40,000+ retailers via Ingram, and a genuine investment in your success beyond launch day.
You bring: the manuscript, and a commitment to building your author platform. Readers care about you, not your publisher. We'll support your visibility — but you lead it.

Phase One: Editorial

Editorial Rigour is our Core Philosophy

Strong editing is the foundation of a successful book. Our approach is grounded, careful, and collaborative.

We help strengthen what’s already working and offer guidance on places that need more support or refinement.

Once your manuscript is certified by our Director of Editorial, we transition into the active production phase.

Phase Two: Production & Market Prep

This is where we transform your manuscript into a bookstore-ready asset, setting the stage for your Managed Marketing Launch.

1. Final Production & Design

The goal of this stage is visual excellence and technical readiness for distribution.

  • Finalized Cover Design: Our professional design team will finalize the front, spine, and back cover based on your feedback and market analysis. This includes all necessary barcode and pricing elements, ensuring the cover is optimized for both online thumbnail viewing and physical shelf display.
  • Typesetting and Interior Layout: We manage the complex process of typesetting. This involves preparing the final, edited manuscript for printing by designing and executing the entire interior layout (the typography, margins, headers, footers, and table of contents) according to industry best practices. We create distinct files for print (e.g., PDF/X for offset/POD) and digital formats (e.g., ePub, MOBI).
  • Final Proofreading (QC Check): After typesetting, the manuscript receives its final, official proofread—a critical quality control (QC) step. The Director of Editorial oversees this final check to correct typographical or formatting errors before the files are ever transmitted to the printer.

2. Market Setup & Distribution

This stage is the vital administrative work that connects your book to the global retail supply chain.

  • Metadata Research and Preparation: We perform comprehensive metadata research to identify the optimal categories (BISAC/Thema codes), keywords, and descriptive copy that will maximize your book's discoverability on major retail platforms (Amazon, Kobo, Apple, etc.). This data is crucial for retail success and is finalized for market submission.
  • ISBN & Copyright Assignment: We assign the required ISBN (International Standard Book Number) under one of the Ingenium Books imprints and optional copyright registration.
  • Distributor Setup & Asset Upload: We manage the entire process of setting up your book within our distribution partners (Ingram Content Group and other retailers). This includes uploading all finalized files (print PDF, ePub, MOBI) and transmitting the comprehensive metadata to ensure your book is available for order by every major bookstore, library, and online retailer globally.

Phase Three: Your Managed Launch: Exceptional Support You Won’t Find Anywhere Else

Once your book is ready, we transition from production to the marketplace. Our Managed Launch strategy is designed to position your book for maximum impact, taking the administrative burden off your shoulders so you can focus on being the author.

The Blurb & Endorsement Advantage

You tell us who you’d love to reach out to. We handle the outreach and follow-ups. This helps your book build early credibility without the stress of — or hours spent — managing it all yourself.

Retail & Media Outreach

When your book is ready, we prepare and share professional materials with relevant bookstores, retailers, and media contacts. The goal is to help your book reach the right places without you having to manage dozens of details on your own.

Professional Digital Assets

You receive clean, ready-to-use graphics, banners, and a dedicated Author Page. These give you a strong online presence right from the start — no scrambling to create visuals or figure out what’s needed for launch.

Expert Launch Coaching & Training

Our 9-session launch training series breaks the process down into manageable steps. You’ll learn how to build a supportive launch team, how to talk about your book, and how to introduce it to readers in a way that feels doable and sustainable.

Strategic Lead Time:

The 18–24 Month Advantage

We believe that a successful book requires meticulous planning, not a rushed timeline. Authors who accept and sign the publishing contract can expect their book's official release date to be scheduled ~18 to 24 months from the signing date.

This strategic lead time is essential for success. It allows for the necessary depth and quality control across every stage:

  • In-Depth Editing: Critical developmental and line editing.
  • Bespoke Design: High-impact cover and interior design.
  • Strategic Positioning: Securing key endorsements and media opportunities.
  • Market Ramp-up: Building the necessary momentum for a successful, high-impact launch campaign.

We dedicate this time to ensuring your book is positioned for maximum impact in the marketplace.
