Ingenium Books to Publish Second Novel by Todd Gray

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE—Toronto, ON, Saturday, July 12, 2025 — Ingenium Books is excited to announce the publication of the forthcoming The 67th Precipice, the highly anticipated second novel in Todd Gray’s powerful Mac MacGregor trilogy. Set against the harsh, isolated backdrop of Canada’s North, the novel combines urgent social commentary with pulse-pounding suspense.

Following the success of Gray’s debut novel, The 49th Protocol, this new instalment in the series once again features RCMP  special agent Stewart “Mac” MacGregor and his team confronting personal demons and dangerous geopolitical stakes. At the heart of the novel lies a clash between myth and modernity: A centuries-old secret tied to a lost Templar treasure intersects with present-day concerns over Arctic sovereignty, military presence, and resource exploitation.

But it’s the lived reality of northern communities that drives Gray’s storytelling. “I wanted to write this book to bring to light the underlying social and cultural issues in the Arctic and the overall influence of how the Inuit are seen in the modern era,” Gray, a former member of the RCMP, says. “Having lived in the Arctic, in the hamlet of Kugluktuk, as a police officer, I saw the daily struggles of the people first-hand. I wanted to address the overt racism and mischaracterization of a culture as an underlying theme.”

With additional focus on substance abuse, trauma, and the breakdown of accountability within local law enforcement, The 67th Precipice delivers both a gripping narrative and a sobering reflection of life in Canada’s North. Blending speculative historical mystery with contemporary political relevance, Gray also explores the legacy of secret societies like the Masons and their presence in the North, to bring together fact and fiction.

“This story is more complex than the first,” says Gray. “There are many moving parts—military, cultural, and historical—and I wanted to make sure each thread honours the truth of what I witnessed in the Arctic. This isn’t just fiction. It’s a conversation about how we see the North and the people who live there.”

The 67th Precipice forces readers to reckon with what is lost—not just in the hunt for treasure or legend, but in the ongoing erosion of culture, oversight, and trust,” says Ingenium Books publisher Boni Wagner-Stafford. “It unveils a part of Canada that many readers have never truly seen or understood. The first book in the trilogy turned out to be somewhat prophetic, so we’re curious to see what this timely and deeply human novel will predict about the future.”

The 67th Precipice is slated for release in fall 2026.
